Bill K6KN reminded us about the Boy Scout march to the Capitol on Sat, Oct 24 from 9-12. The K6IS repeater will be used. Robert KC6UDS and Dave KC6YFG reminded us about Foxy's Fall Century bike ride. An operator is needed for Elmira rest stop. Bob K6HEW might be able to get someone. Gary WA6TQJ recapped the Princess Prominade. There were 17 hams, 2 repeaters used, and 620 riders. He also recapped the UCD operator training class. There were 14 students, 4 trainers. It was a 2 hour class on message handling. The weekly UCD net now has message handling practice at the end. Dave KC6YFG told us about an upcoming VE Session at the Woodland Red Cross on Dec 12 from 9-12. Contact Ken Wilson K6WLS. Rick N6KLB recapped the Whitney Classic bike ride that he supported two weekends ago. He also listed upcoming events, CA International Marathon and the Turkey Trot. Steve WA6HAM gave us an update on his employment for the county where he is installing microwave links around the county. He is making sure that the sites include space for ham gear and will be moving the N6QDY repeater to Bald Mtn (above the casino). It's on 147.255 pl 123 The meeting was closed at 2010 hrs. Bill K6KN looking for program ideas. Gary WA6TQJ did show and tell on a 1910 book on wireless telegraphy and an iambic paddle/keyer. Bill K6KN gave out a handout listing his collection of most important ham books and he did a show and tell on each book in the collection.
